Old Man’s War
by John Scalzi
I loved it. Old Man’s War was recommended to me independently by two friends whose opinions on science fiction I trust, and it didn’t let me down. I really liked this book. There is a lot of action and excitement, and the hero is likeable with a good sense of humor. I was really rooting for him throughout the story. Old Man’s War is relatively light sci-fi, focusing more on the plot and the characterization of the hero rather than on the science, but none of the science fiction concepts were overtly weak; everything seemed plausible to me. Overall the book is a quick read, and is a lot of fun too.
